Helping artists and charities during COVID-19 and beyond
Hello friends of Pirate!
In addition to artists needing help during Covid-19 many artists/labels/ourselves are wanting to help further the work of the Black Lives Matter movement and organizations helping like the NAACP, ACLU, MN Freedom Fund, and others!
We continue to update this list with releases / resources / etc. Please support the artists and labels below if you can, and contact us with any additions / suggestions / ideas. We’re listening.
It’s no secret that we’re living in strange times and the coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken virtually all of our artists off of the road. Most of these artists rely on touring as their main source of income so seeing that be taken away from them so suddenly is crushing.
We are going to use this space to compile resources that are helping artists / service industry workers (all our favorite venues are closed / empty for the most part right now too) / etc that are adversely affected by this pandemic. If you know of resources / fundraisers / etc we should include please let us know and we’ll keep on updating this.
Here are just some of the current Pirate! artists that were on the road and had to head home, in some cases at great expense, and stay off the road until further notice. Please buy their merch, stream and/or download their music, play their music on your stations and tell your listeners to help out too! Many of these artists will not afford to return to the road or the studio if they cannot recoup some of their tour income.
Many of these are direct links to Bandcamp who are waiving their fee to either help artists and/or help the BLM community on several Fridays this year. Additionally many labels are waiving their take as well, so that 100% truly goes directly to the artists and/or the charity.
And of course many of our regular labels had dozens of bands on the road, you can check out full rosters and help out ALL of the bands here:
