Marble Party - Time and Time Again

Self-Released

With 12 years and 4 albums under their belt, Marble Party is a favorite on the Marin County, California music scene. Their live shows are known for big energy with special guests, wild props, occasional keytar solos, and once, a didgeridoo–alpenhorn battle. But beneath their catalog of locally-famous mischief lies a group of celebrated songwriters, arrangers, performers, recording artists.

Their songwriting savvy combines British-influenced power pop, melodic indie rock, and psychedelic-pop to give the band an electrifying feel that moves between these styles with natural instinct. Lush harmonies, hook-filled melodies and tasteful musical surprises are signatures of the Marble Party sound. Reviewers and fans offer comparisons: “Smack between Fountains of Wayne and Weezer,” “A hard Wilco,” even “Old Kinks meets new Beatles.”

Their debut album Lyle (2011) and sophomore release Plush Up (2014) garnered acclaim from music publications across the country. Their third album, Sometimes a Great Ocean (2017) collected even more enthusiastic accolades, including: Top 100 national college radio charts, KALX Berkeley Best Albums of 2017, KALX Berkeley (DJ Cuppa Joe) #1 song of 2017, Marin IJ’s Marin Musicians’ Best Albums of 2017, Absolute Powerpop Top 50 Albums of 2017, among others. Music critic Paul Liberatore called it “Brilliantly arranged and masterfully conceived.” Absolute Powerpop raved, “Another tour-de-force from these pop-rockers.”

Time and Time Again, their brand new album, is now out everywhere. With lid-lifting power pop anthems, wistful ballads and a raw closer featuring Tim Bluhm of The Mother Hips, the album is filled with their most inspired and important songs to date.
