Carissa Johnson - A Hundred Restless Thoughts

A Diamond Heart Production

From the start Carissa Johnson has been supported sonically by hard-grooving drums and resonant guitar melodies accompanying her growling bass lines. The singer and her band the Cure-Alls won Boston’s legendary Annual Rock and Roll Rumble (previous winners include ‘Til Tuesday and The Dresden Dolls) in 2017 and took home the ‘New Act of the Year’ award at Boston’s 30th Annual Music Awards the same year.

Johnson and the Cure-Alls won ‘Rock Act of the Year’ in 2019 at the New England Music Awards and has opened for national acts such as Damone, Dorothy, Thunderpussy, Orgy, and the Damnwells. The band’s “heartening anthemic rock” and inimitable live energy have proven to attract listeners of all kinds.

After touring the U.S. over the span of 2017-2019 leading up to and following the release of their full-length album Talk Talk Talk (March, 2018), Johnson is gearing up for her latest release A Hundred Restless Thoughts. This new album brings the same down-to-the-ground honesty that Johnson’s lyrics are known for, but takes a different approach musically. Incorporating the acoustic guitar, percussion, piano, and even synth-y organ sounds, A Hundred Restless Thoughts captures the energy of Aimee Mann and Jesse Malin, with nods to the styles and storytelling of Brandi Carlile and Sharon Van Etten.
