Upchuck - I'm Nice Now

Domino

“Absolute mayhem… like punk Beastie Boys” – NPR

“A sonic cannon, set to maximum destruction” – Rolling Stone

“Their combination of on point messaging, unyielding intensity, and wall-rattling musical power guarantees their future even as I’m Nice Now goes a long way to positioning them as the most important band of right now.” – AllMusic, review, 4.5/5

Upchuck’s cohesion radiates in vocalist KT’s delivery and drummer Chris Salado’s refined yet pummeling effort… If you’re in the mood to numb yourself with some blistering, unpredictable punk rock, I’m Nice Now will get you there in a hurry.” – Paste, Best New Albums

“Each of the 13 short songs on I’m Nice Now is shaved to a sharp point, no time or energy wasted. It’s an urgent album for an urgent time, when revolt seems like the only viable option.” – Qobuz, The Week’s Best Albums

Five more albums we wish we had time to discuss on the podcast; “Plastic” included on playlist. – NPR, New Music Friday

“There is a newfound energy running through the band’s veins. In a time where the powers that be are rife with corruption, the band’s voice is only getting louder and tenser.” – Northern Transmissions, review

Atlanta punk band Upchuck released their new album and Domino debut I’m Nice Now on Friday, October 3, and they recently shared the single “New Case.” Lead singer KT’s groove-heavy cadence is found on “New Case,” which, with its walking bass line feels like a punk cousin of something funky Quincy Jones once cooked up. That the song is both blazingly melodic while sounding authentically fuzzy is credit to the album’s producer Ty Segall. The track comes with an incredible Claymation video by the animator Cissi Efraimsson.
