Underlined Passages - His Head Feels Like A Trainwreck Tonight [EP]

Mint 400

Blood Makes Noise: Premiere

This new EP from the well-respected Baltimore indie rock band Underlined Passages continues and expands their work on the recently released Neon Inoculation (Mint 400 Records) called “one of the best records of 2022…” (Sleepingbag Studios)-with new songs and in a first for the band, a cover of Sarah McLachlan’s “Ice Cream” (from the album Mirrorball).

The title of the record is taken from the lyrics of The Promise Ring song “Things Just Getting Good” (from the record Very Emergency). The EP deals tangentially with losing relevance in middle age and learning how to accept the inevitability of slipping into a life of obscurity as we age. It is also a shout out to early-aughts indie rock like The Promise Ring and Clarity-era Jimmy Eat World.

Lyrics like “All these scenes, in the magazines, make you feel like you’re lost too” (from the song “Ambrncense”) sum up the struggle of getting older in a society designed to worship youthfulness.

For fans of the aforementioned Promise Ring, Sunny Day Real Estate, and early Pedro The Lion, this EP will be right there for you.

Underlined Passages will set you up for that perfect indie rock road trip with new tunes “Snowdonia” and “Midlife Suicide” within an indie rock core that “always delvers the goods.” (Babysue).

Known for their “gorgeous celebrations of brilliant musicianship…” (Jersey Beat) and for making records that put forth “infectious, guitar-driven, melodically lush and easily memorable songs” (Middle Tennessee Music), His Head Feels Like A Trainwreck Tonight stays right within the sound that UP fans know and love.
