Tom Barrett - Five Songs [EP]

Mint 400

Tom Barrett is a singer/songwriter who lives in Jersey City, NJ. He’s played with numerous bands in and around the area since the very early 2000’s, most notably the three-piece shoegaze outfit known around town as Overlake (Bar-None Records). In 2011, with the encouragement of some close friends, he finally started sharing his own songs that were more reflective of such delicate, folkier influences as Lou Barlow, Elliott Smith and Nick Drake, all artists whose records he would spend endless hours singing and playing along with, developing his own voice while no one else was home.

His latest Mint 400 release, the Five Songs EP, is made up of much louder, electric versions of songs that previously appeared on 2015’s All Is Right and last year’s 051480. It was recorded at his former rehearsal space in the Neumann Leather building in Hoboken, NJ, with Barrett playing all the instruments. These songs make up the majority of his live sets featuring his backing band, The Cuts, featuring Jamie Zillitto (The Everymen, Wave) on bass, and Jake Fiedler (The Everymen, Ex-Models) on drums.
