Post Sex Nachos - Big Bad
“Live, the band’s synth-pop got an indie rock punch-up, eliciting a melodic, staccato vocal tic in singer Sammy Elfanbaum akin to a young Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend.” – Rolling Stone
Nashville-based indie rock outfit, Post Sex Nachos, are set to release their fifth full-length album Big Bad via SoundOn. This time around, the band put the greatest emphasis on being intentional and collaborative. Speaking to that level of collaboration, BAILEN, MARIS and Annelise Gonzalez are featured across some of the album’s songs.
Named after the recurring villain in tabletop gaming, Big Bad is about staying positive when you’re up against the undercurrents of chaos and change. Balancing humor with unfiltered emotion and pairing infectious energy with deeply personal storytelling, the Aaron Wagner produced LP is out Friday — Stream/ Order on vinyl.
Singer Sammy Elfanbaum shared, “‘Big Bad’ is the first label-backed album by Post Sex Nachos, which is somewhat ironic as most of the songs are about the late-stage capitalism that’s ruining our country and the rest of the world. Outside of clamoring about the music industry and what it takes to succeed, there are also songs about love, change and loss scattered throughout the record. The group has gone through some big life events in the past few years, and a lot of those corresponding feelings are put on display for the listener. If you’re looking for a complete release of pent-up anxiety, this record is for you!”
The Big Bad North American Tour officially kicks off next week with a hometown show at Nashville’s Basement East. The tour will move from coast to coast through early November, with the final show in Chicago. Along the way, PSN will be supported by Fetch Tiger, Scarlet Demore, The Foxies, Hana Eid and Hannah Geller. See all upcoming tour dates here and contact us with any requests!
UNDER THE RADAR “Nashville-based outfit Post Sex Nachos make a bright and hooky style of indie rock, leaning towards the genre’s polished and melodic side but with an added dose of irrepressible energy.”
IDOBI “With glistening indie melodies, euphoric choruses, and groovy basslines, this is exactly the indie act you need to listen to right now, and it doesn’t hurt that they have an unforgettable band name.”
MUSIC CONNECTION “Between the anxiety anthems, the friendship ballads, and at least one guaranteed cry, Big Bad is Post Sex Nachos at their most honest.”
ATWOOD MAGAZINE “It’s the sound that’s brought fans back year after year and invited new listeners to stay: Thoughtful, honest (and sometimes heartbreaking) lyrics matched with an upbeat indie-rock instrumental.”
OFF THE RECORD “Midwest indie-pop darlings Post Sex Nachos have spent the last few years proving they possess some of the sharpest songwriting instincts in the modern underground.”
WITH GUITARS “From there, Post Sex Nachos balanced dance-floor instincts with sharp songwriting, weaving together flashes of roller-rink disco, lively guitar-and-keyboard interplay, and understated white-boy funk. Their live show stripped away some of the glossy production found on the studio recordings, replacing it with the immediacy of a live band, giving the tunes extra weight without sacrificing their bounce.”
