Pespi - BLT

Pespi is a Brooklyn based electric rock trio consisting of brothers Harrison Watters, Rob Falcone and Matthew P. “Lentils” Falcone. CT boys raised on Modest Mouse + Weezer who enjoy math rock, a good anime and dancing.

Some bands take years to find their chemistry; others forge it from suburban high school garages to shared Brooklyn apartments. Enter Pespi, the Brooklyn-based indie-rock trio anchored by the locked-in rhythm section of brothers Rob (bass) and Matt Falcone (drums), alongside prolific singer-songwriter Harrison Watters.

A decade after their teenage pop-punk project Waydown dissolved, a spontaneous opportunity to perform a Modest Mouse tribute set on Halloween in 2022 brought the trio back into the same room. Following that set, the return of their live creative unity was immediate. The three began booking more shows with Rob and Matt began learning Watters’ solo acoustic catalog, transforming the material into dynamic, full-band arrangements. This newly unlocked dynamic inspired Watters to break free from the physical constraints of solo acoustic performance—composing basslines, drum grooves, and intricate guitar parts for Pespi’s debut record, Salt Pepper Catshit, an album driven by excitable, stream-of-consciousness instrumentals with melodies and lyrics layered on top.

Following a series of three triple-singles that reimagined Watters’ back catalog alongside select covers, the band turned their attention toward their second full-length record, BLT (out September 11, 2026). This time, Watters returned to a song-first foundation—grounding each track in percussive acoustic sensibilities, suspended chords, and howled, visual lyricism before arranging them for the power of a live trio. Delivered with dynamic harmonies and a biting, direct-in amp tone that rejects studio gloss, the band steps into a sharper, more cynical, and infinitely catchier era.

Spanning eight tracks framed by two bookend interludes, BLT is a blistering, self-deprecating sprint through the realities of quarter-life city living. It is an anthem for anyone who has ever felt a little broke, a little lost, and a little too close to the grime of the pavement. Blending the jagged energy of post-punk with the melodic hooks of early-2000s indie pop and emo, Pespi delivers a record that is as emotionally chaotic as it is sonically airtight—speaking directly to suburban transplants searching for something live, raw, and real in the city.

Lyrically, the album pulls no punches. From the restless, anti-settling-down sprint of opener “29”to the unsparing grit of “Sorry Charlie” (“I am the shit under God’s nails”), BLT navigates urban exhaustion, morning-after shame, and the disorientation of modern adulthood. It is a record about “living the life in a city that’s an open wound” (“Seasoning”), capturing the distinct claustrophobia of getting older without ever quite feeling grown up.
