Following the breakout success of their 2023 self-released debut The Yuppies Are Winning and 2025 Spring Break EP, Illinois emo heroes HARRISON GORDON could have spent their first release for Hopeless Records refining the formula that made them one of the genre’s fastest-rising young acts. Instead, their sophomore LP, BLISS, embraces imperfection at every turn, capturing the abrasive dynamics and gritty authenticity of beloved second albums like Pinkerton and In Utero.

What began as a solo project for Harrison Gordon (the man) eventually evolved into an underground sensation, fueled by packed basement shows and viral TikTok videos that introduced millions to their blend of heartland punk, emo and indie rock. BLISS retains all those early hallmarks – humor, heart, specificity and singalong-ready choruses – but finds the band wrestling with burnout, self-loathing and the resignation that cheap comforts provide pleasure, not fulfillment. Just as importantly, the album thrives on a spontaneity that can’t be manufactured. Even as the band has graduated to larger stages alongside State Champs, Hot Mulligan and Arm’s Length, their DNA remains rooted in the DIY scene where they built their reputation. It’s that sense of instinct – hearing the imperfections and leaving room for unpredictability – that carries Harrison Gordon into a new era. As Gordon himself explains: “I wanted it to sound like people in a room creating something together. I wanted it to sound like a band.”
