“…they’re writing songs that either hit people right in the heart or get them partying…”—Miami New Times

“Lowlight has proved itself capable of almost anything; a band fully in control of its faculties, having crafted an album so vital and compelling, it dares you to try and pin it down.”—You Don’t Know New Jersey

“It takes a little chutzpah to be a New Jersey band and call one of your releases Born to Run…” —Billboard

At the forefront of one of America’s most resurgent music scenes in AsburyPark, NJ, Lowlight’s sound is at once unconventional and slyly nostalgic. They have converged under an experimental union of art rock, synth-pop, and psychedelic. A live band at the core, their DIY sensibilities have kept the group creatively nimble and hard working. Lowlight in recent years was direct tour support for The Pretenders, have helped cement their Asbury Park legacy by playing the Sea.Here.Now. Festival and have even had a limited edition beer from Twin Lights Brewing Company pay homage to one of their songs with art inspired by the band.

Their upcoming release, Strange Light, marks a transition in the band’s sonic character—one they have been cultivating since they first formed in 2014. Recorded in their own church-turned-recording studio, the album is built on a foundation sampled soundscapes and collaged rhythms, driven by a delicate balance of electronic and acoustic drums. Analog synthesizers envelope a compelling and hauntingly beautiful lead vocal. Their tactile approach to production provides a raw and expansive sound that has become a hallmark of their music.
