The Stone Souls - Riptide [EP]
The Stone Souls are a sonic roadtrip; blending the best of Desert Rock with Americana, settling among pop melodies from days gone by. They bring you slide guitars, mariachi trumpets, cinematic passages and heartfelt stories about oddballs and dreamers.
Established in 2020 by songwriter Theodor Versteegen, The Stone Souls, then still as a duo, released two albums: The Stone Souls (2020) & Misfits (2022). This led them to perform at venues such as Luxor Live and Zwarte Cross.
The Stone Souls currently consists of Theodor Versteegen, Dayenne Wielheesen, Bas Janssen and Niek Witjes.
In 2024, The Stone Souls celebrated the release of their first short film ‘Splinter’. ‘Splinter‘ tells the story of finding your own path in a hectic world. A journey from the Los Angeles urban jungle through the Southwest, accompanied by the band’s original soundtrack. The short film is produced as part of a social program aimed at discussing and supporting the emotional well-being of teenagers and young adults in the Netherlands. ‘Splinter‘ received the award for Best Original Score (Music written and recorded for a film) at the Berlin Indie Film Festival, September 2024.
The Stone Souls‘ latest release is ‘Riptide’; a Surf & 60’s infused EP, ready to rock and roll straight into 2025!
The journey of The Stone Souls continues on their EP ‘Riptide‘. As they travel from the desert to the West Coast, their harmonies become brighter and brighter, adding elements from the late California ’60s and surf rock to their signature desert rock sound. Influenced by artists like The Ventures and The Byrds, as well as Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty, The Stone Souls explore their future path.
The EP cover shows the historic windmill from their Dutch hometown Oud-Zevenaar.
