The Crooked Stuff - Darkphased [EP]
“Crank up the subs! San Francisco Bay Area’s The Crooked Stuff is killing it in the clubs with a dynamic synth-bass sound and their new Darkphased EP is throbbing dance grooves mastery. The second track Black Holes, featuring Tom Gorton’s vocals, mesmerizes with a syncopated deftness to the synth, bass and drum sound that drives their uniquely original sound. They fill the dance floors at every packed show from the first beat!” – DJ Dino Poortaste – Dino’s Garage on KRCBFM 104.9 Sonoma County NPR Affiliate
San Francisco Bay Area synth-driven trio, The Crooked Stuff, returns with their new 3-song EP, Darkphased, a high-energy collision of electronic rock and existential discopunk intensity. Across the tracks “Decimator,” “Black Holes,” and “Die This Way,” the band explores disassociation, rumination, and the twisted pathways toward liberation (or destruction) from the dark pull of modern technology and media entrapments. A sonic mash-up of synthetic funk and electronic four-to-the-floor, Darkphased moves bodies, probes minds, and leaves listeners simulatenously unsettled and energized.
With a growing reputation for incendiary live performances and a sound forged from the founders’ wide spectrum of musical roots (hardcore punk, new wave, funk, psychedelic rock, and analog-electronic experimentation), The Crooked Stuff is proving they are a sonic force to be alternatively tangled with.
