Teenage Bottlerocket - Mission To Shred [EP]
Since the release of their 10th studio LP Ready To Roll – and the singles that led up to it – Laramie, WY pop-punkers Teenage Bottlerocket have seen the songwriting and playing on this album hailed as some of the best of their 25 year career.
Always seeking to provide their legions of worldwide fans with something new and different, for three of the album’s singles – “She’s the Shit,” “Post Mortem Depression,” and “True To You” – the band eschewed traditional music videos, instead releasing “live in the studio” videos recorded at the band’s own Mission To Shred Studios.
These unique Mission To Shred sessions have amassed thousands of views on YouTube even as the single versions blew up on every streaming platform. In addition to the three singles, they laid down the album track “What To Be For Halloween,” which has already become a seasonal favorite among fans of these avowed horror enthusiasts! This final video was released on October 31st as a Halloween surprise! Taken together, the songs represent contributions from all three of the band’s singer-songwriters.
The Mission To Shred session videos generated tons of interest from fans to have their own copies to take home. Previously only two were available, and in limited quantities: “Post Mortem Depression” appeared as the B-side to the 7″ single that accompanied the ultra-limited deluxe version of Ready To Roll (which sold out within hours), while “True To You” appeared on a limited Flexi Disc exclusively available with New Noise Magazine.
So many fans were demanding copies of the full sessions, that it was decided to put out all four songs, together on a 7″ via Pirates Press Records. Think of it as a companion piece to Ready To Roll, and a testament to a level of tightness and precision in a live setting that can only come from a band that have been together for years, all while bringing a fresh energy to set the performances apart from the versions fans know and love from the album.
