Sweat - Tear It On Down
“…a hardcore-infused rock & roll vibe in the vein of stuff like The Bronx and Refused, and Tuna Tardugno’s rage-fueled bark is genuinely magnetic.” – BrooklynVegan
“…a gritty, raw, and unapologetically honest snapshot of life, as seen through the eyes of a band that’s lived it. Straight out of Southern California, SWEAT is not here to sugarcoat or sell you an image. They’re here to tell it like it is, with all the rough edges and unfiltered truth that comes with the territory of punk.” – Idioteq
“Sweat have taken a few musical risks, all of which have paid off. In a world of generic post Hatebreed clones, an intoxicating, exciting album such as this is more than welcome and everything you could want from a present day Hardcore outfit.” – GhostCult Magazine
SWEAT formed in early 2019 in Los Angeles, CA with the intention to create a distinct take on the bastardization of rock & roll and hardcore. Comprised of members of Graf Orlock, Dangers, Dogteeth, Ghostlimb, and many others, the members (Tuna Tardugno, vocals, Anthony Rivera, drums and Justin Smith, guitar/vocals), have shared collective investment & contribution in the Southern California music scene for 25 years. Over four releases the band has moved through territorial influences that ranged from the Wipers to Cro-Mags, Masshysteri to Rival Mob, and Motorhead to Thin Lizzy, with a sprinkling of disco cadence and a heavy dose of snark.
Blending these genres together seamlessly produces a sound that is at once classic rock while offering a unique heaviness, all tied together with a vocal delivery that acts as a rhythmic accompaniment to the music. The drumming is informed by influences well outside of punk and translates as sorely needed feel and creativity, while the guitars maintain an aggression that only rarely lets up. In 2024 SWEAT released their second full-length LP Love Child (on the band’s own label Vitriol Records). Love Child takes off where Gotta Give It Up left off. More melody, more aggression, more banger tracks. The two singles released in March 2024 “Give Me Action” and “White Nectarines” showed the band at a new song writing level, exemplifying an intensified and honed mix of rage and riffs.
Tear It On Down was recorded live to tape July 2025 at the Atomic Garden, Oakland, CA. Tracked, Mixed and Mastered by Grammy-nominated Jack Shirley producer/engineer (has worked on Deafheaven, Jeff Rosenstock, Loma Prieta, Jerome’s Dream). It will be released via Vitriol Records on April 3rd, 2026.
