Sunshine Slackers - I'll Meet You Down There [EP]
Sunshine Slackers‘ sound is the product of over a decade of musical chemistry between Jack Linden (Karma Gambit), Deirdre Padric (American Stereo), and Chris Dubrow (Karma Gambit), who’ve played in something like five music projects together. Their latest effort marks a departure from overthinking, embracing raw instinct. After Jack brought in four new songs, the trio spent just three hours rehearsing before heading into a basement studio in Philadelphia with producer Zach Ciancaglini of Cloakz, where they recorded the tracks in eight hours with no drum comps, one bass comp (Chris messed up a note) and vocals recorded in about 3 hours at the end of the day. This approach—live and unpolished—captures the messy energy of their emotions.
The upcoming EP dives into themes of loneliness, anger, and longing for comfort amidst chaos. Tracks like “Doormat” and “Serene” are older, while “Sewer” and “Crevasse” are more recent, but all fit into the EP’s cohesive, unfiltered vibe. For Sunshine Slackers, it’s about trusting instinct and collaborating with friends to create, record, and move forward.
