Special Moves

Special Moves
Reflective Tapes
ADDS 3/13/18

Special Moves is Olympia's Joshua Hoey plus buddies. They make lo-fi rock with ample doses of noise, fuzz, and pop for everyone. "March" is the third in the Special Moves 2018 monthly cassingle series. Performed entirely by Joshua, this edition features buzzsaw guitars, competently unstable drumming, and vocal melodies intended to resemble a distant phone connection. Fans of Bob Mould's shiny pop band Sugar will recognize some of these riffs and phrasings, as long as they don't mind a bit of dirt tossed in with the sweet stuff.

Joshua has played in DIY indie rock and punk bands such as Parasol, Box Fan, Blood Orphans and Serious Geniuses over the past fifteen years. They book gigs in Olympia, Washington for other dedicated DIY bands and artists, run a bedroom label called Reflective Tapes, and put out a monthly indie rock zine called "minimum Rock And Roll".

Special Moves will be performing a number of gigs in the Northeast this Spring, including an appearance at the inaugural After The Gig Fest in Northampton, Massachusetts.
