On Friday, August 15, acclaimed songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist Sir Chloe released “Eyes,” the latest single from her upcoming sophomore album, Swallow The Knife, which arrives August 22. The atmospheric ballad captures the spark of finding love after emerging from a disastrous partnership. The music video is directed by Jennifer Medina.
“Much of this record is about recovering from an abusive relationship,” Foote says. “‘Eyes’ is about falling in love again, and how that love has colored my life, rewired my brain, and made me believe in people again. Love can’t save you unless it comes from yourself, but sometimes you find a love that makes loving yourself worth the trouble.”
“Eyes” shows another side of Swallow the Knife. Where previous singles (“The Hole,” “Forgiving,” and “Passenger”) channeled Sir Chloe’s fury and resentment into her hardest-hitting moments to date, “Eyes” is a loveswept ballad, focused on healing and recovery.
Swallow the Knife doesn’t dwell on survival or victimhood. Rather, Foote channels the period she refers to as her “psychological winter” with catharsis and rage. It’s a record about the aftershocks of abuse, overcoming manipulation and control, and honoring each stage of emotional struggle to regain one’s power and strength.
The album is produced by Steph Marziano (Hayley Williams, Cassandra Jenkins, Bartees Strange), and Sarah Jones (Harry Styles, Kurt Vile, Hot Chip) plays drums on the majority of the songs. The 11 songs are written by Sir Chloe, who also sings and plays guitars and synths on all. The album was recorded in London.
Sir Chloe is a fierce stage performer and exquisite crafter of visceral rock music that’s rooted in 90s grunge angst (PJ Harvey, Hole, Veruca Salt) and 2000s indie bite (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric, Tegan & Sara) with a quintessentially modern confessionality that evokes the most inspiring female rockers of the current era (St. Vincent, Mitski, Snail Mail).
She has announced an extensive 36-date headlining North American tour, including stops at Webster Hall in New York and The Fonda in Los Angeles. Tickets are on sale HERE. (contact us with any requests)
Sir Chloe released 2020 EP Party Favors via Terrible Records. Three of its songs (“Michelle,” “Animal,” “Too Close”) went Gold with the former approaching Platinum. Her 2023 Atlantic Records debut, I Am The Dog garnered 20 million streams, a string of sold-out headline tours, and tour support for Beck, Phoenix, Japanese Breakfast, and Weyes Blood.
