Shop Talk - Shop Talk

One Track Mind / Revolver USA

“Power pop with a little bit of a street punk edge, kind of like a beefier EXPLODING HEARTS/BUZZCOCKS concoction…. I want more, damnit! Really lovely work here.” —Maximum Rocknroll

“Mightily catchy… sort of like ‘Search and Destroy’ as reimagined by Devo.” —Stereogum

Shop Talk plays a style that few bands attempt nowadays, perhaps because it’s so difficult to pull off without sounding like a nostalgia act… [Shop Talk] make it look easy—and more importantly, make it sound vital.” — Add to Wantlist

“Rip-roaring… nervy and relentless and full of forward-hurtling momentum.” —Bandcamp.com (“New and Notable”)

Shop Talk is a Brooklyn-based punk band whose spirit harkens back to first-wave acts like X and The Adverts. Shop Talk’s sound is “anthemic and addictive, but dark and dreary, like London and pre-hardcore LA mingling somewhere mysterious” (MRR). The band’s self-titled LP was recorded in Nashville, TN with James Mechan of The Sleeveens, and its release is slated for March 13th via One Track Mind Records / Revolver USA.

In advance of the full-length, a 7-inch called “Museum of Sex” was released in November 2025. The record was produced by Jeff Berner (Psychic TV, Shilpa Ray) and it’s the band’s first to feature Angie Boylan (Sleater-Kinney, Marissa Paternoster Band) on drums. The title track was selected for Creem Magazine’s “Creme de la CREEM,” and is getting regular airplay from stations like KEXP and WFMU.

Shop Talk has toured the US and Canada several times including support dates with Algiers (Matador Records) and Miranda and the Beat (Khannibalism), and an appearance at SXSW. The band has recently shared stages with acts like The Adverts, Protex, Des Demonas, Pissed Jeans and Downtown Boys; they are set to appear in select cities this spring.
