Replaced By Robots - The Experiment [EP]
“…the latest result of such a creative deluge is The Experiment, a five-track attack of the most marvelous and mercurial music you have ever heard.” – The Big Takeover
“The Experiment is top and tailed with pure majestic temptation and in between simply had the senses and pleasure keenly aroused; a must for any alt pop appetite we suggest” – The Ringmaster Review UK
“Packed full of invigorating energy the band crafts an enthralling sound unlike anything else. Putting their highly original sound, pure creativity and unique sonic vision on full display, Replaced By Robots have made an impressive entrance and captivating artistic concept.” – PLASTIC LONDON
“Tastes like cotton candy and smells like roses.” – THE PUNKHEAD BLOG
“What pop promised to be, in the ’80s or’90s, whenever I felt young, The Velvet Underground, Echo & the Bunnymen, when our identity was externalized in our music, not in our selves! Rollicking. Romantic. Fun. Even Eerie.” – LISA CRYSTAL CARVER (Roller-Derby Zine, Drugs Are Nice)
For their debut record, “The Experiment”, REPLACED BY ROBOTS teamed up with legendary producer Paul Q.Kolderie (Pixies, Dinosaur Jr, Radiohead) who instinctively pushed the Bass & Guitars to the max, giving this record an undeniably GLAM-era feel and a “Rhythmic Pulse” which drives songs like, All The Lonely Nights.
The Experiment feels like, well, a fun experiment: the band is clearly enjoying following the creative spirit wherever it leads, from the first surf-inspired drumbeats of “The Laboratory”, to the instantly catchy 3-part vocal harmonies in, “All The Lonely Nights”, to the wall of noise on the last track, “Since You Broke My Ouija Board”.
Producer and creative compatriot Josh Hager (Devo, The Elevator Drops), rejoins Goolkasian (The Elevator Drops, The Texas Governor) to produce “Are We Falling in Love or Am I Just Losing my Mind?” which is reminiscent of the Buzzcocks, TREX and a million other things but is still, defiantly, its own bird due to Goolkasian’s absolutely electric and impassioned vocal delivery.
