“HIGH PRIESTS OF JERSEY SWAMP ROCK, Reese Van Riper and his band play a unique blend of blues-folk-rock” – 201 Magazine – Joram Mushinske

Reese Van Riper aren’t just a band that you’ll hear once and they’ll go away. In fact, this (band) will likely engulf you with their indie blues sound.” – The Aquarian Arts Weekly

“Craggy-voiced, he has a good bit of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins in him, fusing a blues-based, electric guitar-driven sound with a spooky vibe and melodramatic vocals.” – Jim Testa | NJ.com

“sleazy, bluesy North Jersey swamp rock” – Bob Makin | New Jersey Stage

“a unique mix of dark moody Americana with some grunge sludge around the edges. The charismatic frontman doesn’t just sing songs, he acts them out like you’re watching him play a character. “ – Sam Lowry | RebelNoise.com

Reese Van Riper, the indie blues rock maestro hailing from the heart of New Jersey, has dropped the final bombshell in their musical trilogy, aptly named “Sinners Saints & Psychopaths.” The concluding act, “Psychopaths,” plunges headfirst into lyrical madness, a schizophrenic symphony of riffs and beats that pays homage to the likes of Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart. Nestled within this sonic labyrinth, a rap interlude tips its hat to Van Riper’s diverse musical influences, from R.L. Burnside to the Man in Black himself, Johnny Cash.

But “Psychopaths” is more than just a manic musical tapestry; it’s a culmination of the entire 30-song opus that started with “Sinners” and continued through “Saints.” “Sinners, Saints & Psychopaths” is an album that revels in the primal, celebrates the divine, and reflects the untamed heathen residing within us all. In this epic compilation of songs, there’s a little something for everyone, a musical journey through a spectrum of emotions and experiences.

And here’s the kicker: Reese Van Riper has undertaken the Herculean feat of delivering 30 songs in just 11 months as part of the “Sinners Saint & Psychopaths” trilogy. They’ve earned the moniker of New Jersey’s most prolific songwriter, a title well-deserved. Since signing to Mint 400 Records in 2019, the band has unleashed 65 songs across seven releases. Behind this whirlwind of creativity stands the dynamic partnership of Reese and drummer/producer Glen Monturi, whose sonic landscapes provide the fertile ground for Reese Van Riper to flourish. As Van Riper puts it, “Glen creates a vivid sonic landscape for the Reese Van Riper persona to thrive in.”
