Please Be Careful is a North Jersey–based instrumental experimental indie rock band formed by longtime collaborators Neil Sabatino (Fairmont, Mint 400 Records founder) and Christian Kisala (Fairmont, The Bitter Chills). What began during the pandemic as a low-pressure creative outlet quickly evolved into a fully realized quartet with the addition of drummer Anthony Freda (Million Year Picnic, Cat London) and multi-instrumentalist James DeRose. Blending punk and alternative roots with jazz, groove-driven experimentation, and modern pop textures, the band approaches instrumental music with both sincerity and experimentation, favoring feel and momentum over strict genre boundaries.
Following their debut album Hot Surface, Please Be Careful returns with Live From The Forest Of Chaos, a live document recorded across two separate sessions in 2024 and 2025 at Sabatino’s studio, fittingly titled the Forest of Chaos. The album captures the band at two distinct moments: early performances that present loose, exploratory versions of songs, followed by later sessions that reveal a tighter, more confident group with a clearer sense of its identity. Rather than replicating the studio recordings, the live versions emphasize reinterpretation, highlighting how the band’s collaborative process and improvisational instincts have sharpened over time.
Live From The Forest Of Chaos serves as both a snapshot and a statement, underscoring Please Be Careful’s commitment to growth, risk-taking, and process. Drawing influence from instrumental acts like Tortoise, Stereolab and Hella, alongside jazz fusion from Ramsey Lewis to Domi & JD Beck, trip-hop from DJ Shadow to Sneaker Pimps, and modern rhythm-forward experimentation, the band continues to carve out a sound that resists easy categorization. The release reinforces Please Be Careful as a forward-thinking presence in the North Jersey music scene—one focused less on polish or trends and more on capturing momentum as it happens.
