Ousted - How Do You Cope?
Throughout the seven tracks that fill the release, the band doesn’t eschew melody for a simple sonic assault, littering songs with catchy riffs within song structures as the crunchy assault envelops listeners with those melodies strewn within. – Ghettoblaster
It’s punchy and potent, equally dark and cathartic at the same time. – Scene Point Blank
Hammering through the aching, melancholy-chorded arrangement with unshakeable confidence in their heavy craft. – Revolver
Melodic hardcore anthem – BrooklynVegan
The Baltimore hardcore unit pair burnout themes with driving, melodic aggression and gang-vocal catharsis. – Idioteq
Ousted is a Baltimore hardcore band blending the urgency of classic 2000s hardcore with dark, melodic undercurrents. Their sound is both aggressive and emotionally raw. Think harsh vocals over driving riffs, layered with subtle atmosphere and post-hardcore grit. It’s tight, intense, and unrelenting.
Throughout How Do You Cope? Ousted address the stages grief. From anger and bitterness, to depression and anxiety. The seven tracks resonate with a restless delivery, sweeping through assertive vocals, melodic hooks, and gritty, layered rhythms. Working with their friends, Justin Smith of SWEAT and Dangers lends his vocals on opener “Sunkissed” and Alex Cha of Pig Destroyer created a harsh noise sample on the track “Heavy Breather.” The EP was produced, recorded, and mixed by Justin Day at New Noise Recording Studio (End It, Glocca Morra) in Baltimore and mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege.
