Mike Chick - More Thrills, Less Hills

The Big Takeover – Song Premiere

Rebel Noise – Video Premiere

Mike Chick (Yawn Mower) is excited that these songs are finished. Some of the songs that make up Chick’s forthcoming third LP, More Thrills, Less Hills, came from a disc of unfinished demos from a previous band. Every couple of years he’d ask Bill Bourke, who was also in that band, if he wanted to finish the songs, but then things would come up and nothing would happen.

Until the pandemic. Then they had no excuse but to do the record. Mike finished writing the songs and made demos for BillBill built a basement studio and recorded drums and Mike’s guitar. Mike learned how to use a DAW. A bunch of talented people came by and recorded their parts. It was great. It took years, but they did it.

More Thrills, Less Hills, will be released on all streaming platforms via Mint 400 Records on 02/09/24. These are eight songs that play like a mixtape, from upbeat indie rock, to breezy indie rock, to hip hop influenced indie rock to country, this LP has all the indie rocks and one country song. More Thrills, Less Hills also features contributions from Emily BornemannRichie BrownChris ColonMichael DepkoPamela FloresRyan GreggRachel HockMike NoordsyLou PanicoNicole ScorsoneEl Valerie and Gary Zampini. They all did something great on the record. You have to listen to find out what.

More Thrills, Less Hills was engineered by Mike ChickBill BourkeRudy MeierMike NoordsyEl Valerie and Ray BeckRudy Meier also mixed the record and helped steer the boat. Dana Yurcisin mastered the record using a mix of analog and digital equipment. The record was recorded at Bill’s Basement and Waving Cat, and then I guess MikeRay and Val’s houses (respectfully).
