Lingua Ignota - SINNER GET READY

Sargent House

“Soaring over braided woodwinds and plucked mandolins, Hayter’s voice attempts to transcend pains of the flesh. She sings of a delusion—but a lovely one. Unlike the spiteful divinity that stalks these songs, Hayter’s music is full of reverence and empathy for our most challenging task: to be human.” – Pitchfork album review (8.0)

Kristin Hayter, the classically trained multi-instrumentalist, performance artist, and vocalist known as Lingua Ignota had delivered her new LP SINNER GET READY via Sargent House. The album, which has garnered a Decibel Magazine cover story along with other early support from Pitchfork, Stereogum, Revolver and so much more is an unsettling depiction of dedication and treachery, judgment and consequence set in the desolate environment of rural Pennsylvania. The area neglected region profoundly rooted in a particularly god-fearing brand of Christianity and is where Hayter was residing at the time the album was conceived. SINNER GET READY was crafted with Hayter’s primary collaborator, producer, and engineer Seth Manchester, with additional arrangements and performances from multi-instrumentalist and composer Ryan Seaton and banjo-playing from J. Mamana.

The lead up to the album brought two visually stunning videos: “PENNSYLVANIA FURNACE” was fully directed, shot, and edited by Hayter herself using remarkable imagery and the landscapes of rural Pennsylvania, while “PERPETUAL FLAME OF CENTRALIA” brought along a fashion collaboration between Hayter and acclaimed fashion designer and fellow Sargent House artist Ashley Rose Couture who created the looks specifically for this video, inspiring an entire collection.

The album arrives just ahead of Hayter’s return to the live space where she will present full album shows in select US cities in 2021 and Festivals in Europe for 2022.
