La Neve is dance music created by Joey La Neve DeFrancesco, also of political punk group Downtown Boys.

“Like the work of Mykki Blanco, Perfume Genius, and the generations of queer dissidents who came before them, this is flamboyance as revolutionary praxis.” - Pitchfork

La Neve keeps the party going with today's Song of the Day, a synth-pop call to action to cut off the billionaire class.” - KEXP

"Though the message of La Neve's new single 'A Pretty Red' possesses an urgent call to action for the youth to curtail the apocalypse, we won't get there without sweating it out. La Neve understands this, creating a record meant for dance as release...We dance together, we fight together, we die together." - PAPER

"And with recent legislation that challenges the right of transgender and gender-nonconforming people to exist in public spaces, DeFrancesco's campy art-pop makes an especially powerful statement. The song is a dreamy, synth-pop glimmer of hope, and shows how pop can inspire joy and change, even as one’s right to existence is being contested." - SPIN

La Neve’s debut LP The Vital Cord will be released October 14. The ten tracks emerge at the intersection of dance, punk, and purpose. “A Pretty Red” is a pulsing, angry take take on 90s pop house, a dirty Deee-Lite screaming about the possibilities of creating a new world. “Maximum Wage" calls for beheading the billionaire class. “Stability” is a disco denouncement of the myriad ways capitalism sows chaos to further exploit us. “Signs of Life” and “Lucky” are club celebrations of victories and survival. A cover of “I Wanna Be Adored” reimagines The Stone Roses’ classic as a queer dance track. The LP’s name The Vital Cord speaks to our inescapable historical context, of how the ill-gotten capital of the past fuels the horrors of today, and how we must sever that connection. To paraphrase Marx, we make our own history, but we do not make it under circumstances we choose.

The Vital Cord was written, produced, and recorded by La Neve. Mixing, mastering, and production help by Don Godwin at Tonal Park Studios. The LP is currently up for pre-order on Bandcamp, and a record release tour will follow the LP. Dates are HERE. The Vital Cord is a followup to La Neve’s EP “American Sounds,” released in 2017.
