“through trauma, they’ve landed on the profoundly triumphant note that so many emo bands spend their careers angling to reach.” – Pitchfork (7.4)
“In a couple of weeks, the Redlands, California emo band I’m Glad It’s You will release Every Sun, Every Moon. The band recorded the album with Jawbox legend J. Robbins, and the wrote the songs in response to a terrible 2017 van crash that killed one of their friends.” – Stereogum
‘Every Sun, Every Moon,’ the sophomore full length from Redland, California’s I’m Glad It’s You, carries a lot of weight. The album, recorded with J. Robbins (Promise Ring, Against Me, Jimmy Eat World), deals with the grieving process of losing a close friend of the band, while choosing to focus on the positive impacts that friend had on their lives. The result is a dynamic collection of songs, ranging from truly upbeat and catchy to more introspective and grievous, all imbued with understandably potent lyrical undertones. At once a celebration of a meaningful life and a wail of sorrow in their absence, ‘Every Sun, Every Moon’ eludes expectation.
