Frozen Inertia - Reflectivity
Frozen Inertia is a US based indie experimental rock band with roots in San Francisco California and Akron Ohio. The leading members are Timothy Graves (baritone guitar, bass, synths, vocals) and Brad Palmer (drums, accordion, keys). Their music has been featured on a variety of national college radio stations (last album charting in the top 100 NACC charts), independent films, and on BBC Radio 6 in the UK. They even had success with their song about The Periodic Table of Elements in a number of schools and classrooms across the United States.
Frozen Inertia’s new album Reflectivity, released January 24th, 2025, is an eclectic, experimental mix of musical genres, incorporating elements of jazz, blues, electronic, and classical instruments.
Every song on Reflectivity takes the listener on a journey, where you can close your eyes and travel to another place for a few minutes – even the songs with no lyrics have a cinematic flare. A great example is their song “The Northern Lights”, a ten minute epic in the middle of the album. The band was fortunate enough to travel to London and have this track stem mastered by Oli Morgan (The Beatles, Paul McCartney, Elton John) at Abbey Road Studios to help capture the grandiose sound the band was looking for.
Frozen Inertia incorporates contributions from guest musicians on every album, and with Reflectivity the skill of these musicians is amplified, crafting a sonic dynamism that takes the music in new, unexpected directions. This album introduces seventeen wonderful musicians from around the globe, including:
• Tim Lefebvre (David Bowie’s Blackstar) contributes bass on two tracks; “Remember the Exit May be Located Behind You” and “It’s Just the Beginning of Something New”
• UK jazz vocalists Dennis DeMille (BGT Semi finalist) and Christopher Weeks (Oscar Nominated film ‘The Eternal Memory’) provided vocals on “You Had No New Messages Today” and “It’s Just the Beginning of Something New (vocal reprise)”.
• São Paulo musician Lucas Sales (Ted Nash, Dori Caymmi) adds baritone sax & horn arrangements to “It’s Enrico Pallazzo!!” and “It’s Just the Beginning of Something New”
• NYC based Juilliard School oboist Pablo O’Connell provides improvisation to “You Had No New Messages Today”
• Scott Guberman (Grateful Dead) brought the amazing sounds of Hammond B3 organ to the end of “The Northern Lights”
• Jenny Joy, Nastassia Moore, and Tracy McCullough return again to provide beautiful vocals on tracks: The Northern Lights, Spy Balloon, and Red Sky at Noon.
• And bandmate Brad Palmer’s nine year old son co-wrote the song No One is Driving This Car
