Flycatcher have found their stride. Their blend of twangy indie rock, worn-in emo revival, and road ready anthems built for driving with the windows down hit in a way that feels both surprising and inevitable. On their upcoming full-length, Wrench, the NJ-based band expands on the foundation of their previous releases with a newfound Americana-inspired warmth, leaning into Gregory Pease’s raspy, lived-in vocals to bring it home. Sonically, they land somewhere between Manchester Orchestra and Taking Back Sunday in one way, and Hotline TNT and MJ Lenderman in another.
Earlier this year, the band returned to Pennsylvania to work with Grammy-nominated producer Will Yip, who is releasing Wrench via his label, Memory Music. The record is also taken to new heights with the addition of guest vocalist Brianna Collins of Tigers Jaw, whose featured on the standout track “Man on the Run.” Throughout, Flycatcher sounds sharper and more self-assured than ever as they weave a delicate balance between raw emotion and melodic grit.
