Fashion - Life's Impossible

Fashion is a punk duo from New Jersey formed by Dana Why and thepaintingcompany focused on pushing boundaries and breaking everything. It’s an attempt to see how far out of this world you can push a song while still coming back to its core elements, a kitchen sink approach that makes explicit the only thing that qualifies as a “bad idea” to these two is safety.

The duo’s debut album, Life’s Impossible, is a chaotic yet cohesive statement born from instinct and playfulness rather than perfectionism. Sonically, it finds something of a middle ground between experimental dance music and blown-out horror movie sound design, while still managing to deliver an endless array of pop hooks and sweeping, dramatic climaxes. Lyrically, it showcases an absurdist mix of macho bravado and emotional vulnerability, weaving surrealist tales of Sisyphean suffering, demon conjuring, scorched-earth nihilism & romantic longing.
