One year after the release of their critically acclaimed album, Suburban MayhemE.R.I.E. are returning in calmer waters. The Albany, NY pop/rock quartet has reimagined six of the tracks from their aforementioned sophomore record, in a new collection aptly dubbed Suburban Tranquility.

“Arranging these Tranquility versions was a conscious effort to strip some of our songs down to their barest levels, and re-build almost entirely from scratch,” says vocalist TJ Foster. “Some even felt like complete rewrites, with different keys and slower tempos, in order to cast a whole new light on the lyrics and songwriting.”

What began as a casual studio exercise quickly developed into a collaborative EP, with five local singers/multi-instrumentalists joining the band in the studio to add a distinct flair to the new intimate versions. Lauren Foster and Sydney Worthley reprise their vocal roles on ‘Can’t Stop Runnin’ and ‘World is on Fire’, respectively, whereas Caity Gallagher duets with Foster on an incredibly lush version of ‘Little Heartbreak’, and Julia Alsarraf adds vocals and viola to the ever-so somber opener, ‘Picture of You’. Violinist Jahna Stanton also contributes a stunning string performance to ‘World is on Fire’. The rest of the sonic landscape was meticulously developed by Foster, alongside bassist Levi Jennes.

“We really got to flex some new creative muscles, and the end result speaks for itself,” Jennes adds.

Suburban Tranquility is a captivating addition to E.R.I.E.’s catalog, providing a totally new perspective on their typically urgent sound. If Suburban Mayhem was a look around at the everpresent mayhem in our society, this companion EP is an equally insightful reminder to embrace the quiet wherever you may find it.
