Dräger - Goths à la Discothèque

Trash Casual

Dräger is the ethos of Spencer Draeger’s dystopian modern era. With his hand on the pulse of a generation saturated in anxiety and melancholia, part satirical, part sarcastic but overall playful—Spencer takes a light hand to the heavy themes of technology, love and society at the precipice of a new world. Atwood Magazine states, “…his new dynamic sound is an ingenious blend of old and new inspirations: the driving rhythms of late 70s punk, synth heavy pop of the 80s, and the druggy, electronic compositions of modern psych-pop.” He uses sounds of the past to talk about the future.

Dräger is a non compromising act due to one mind being at the helm of it all. All recordings are 100% written, performed, produced, mixed and mastered by Spencer Draeger in his home studio in Brooklyn. All videos, written, directed and edited solo as well to fulfill an undiluted vision all the way through.  He describes this as, “We have adapted to a voyeuristic, visual centric lifestyle and amidst the vanity and other byproducts of fighting for your screen time, I think to fully tell a story of a song you must now show people what you mean with a video. I’d hate the sentiment to be lost in translation with someone else telling my story. But I also, just like with songwriting, love the process of creating and exploring other ways to express it all.”

Previously, Dräger released a few singles on Cell Vision, and a few on his own, and now his debut full-length Goths à la Discothèque is out on May 7, 2021 on Brooklyn based upstart label Trash Casual (Elijah Wolf, Papi Shiitake, Quiet Canyons, Sulene).
