Blue Vervain - Seasons [EP]

Mint 400

Blue Vervain’s third release titled Seasons is a beautifully painted landscape and undertaking by singer/songwriter Jon Khan that has never been done before. With a release date of March 11, 2022, Seasons is best described as a cinematic compilation of ballads with more heart and intimacy than anything Blue Vervain has released previously. The opening song and title track “Seasons” details a relationship in which hard questions are asked, and where a lot of sacrifices are to be made, “as long as your Season turns my way.” With a full orchestra being featured on all songs, one would think there would be minimal room to expand the soundscape of this release, however, Jon Khan’s vocal melodies and accompanying backing instruments lead “Seasons” in a direction of excellence. Jon Khan stated “I just wanted this record to sound like a movie, and I think I’ve accomplished this feeling and vibe with the end result.” However, this record doesn’t sound like a movie, it is a movie in itself. Beautifully painted images of nature and landscapes in “the Dakotas” ring true to anyone familiar with them. One would be able to find themselves being placed at some lonely town in a state with no “highways or cities” but yet feel the same familiar feeling of interpersonal connection and inner-struggle. Recorded at Big & Tall Recording Studio with co-producers Gabe Valle and Tom McCormick, this record is as intimate and beautiful as any previous release from Blue Vervain and shows how mature Jon Khan’s musicality can be. “Seasons” is the triumph and a coming of age release, and if you’re looking for a little transcendence, “Seasons” is the release for you.
