Beeef - Somebody's Favorite

Self-Released

Among the transient and constantly evolving music scenes of Boston and Brooklyn, not many indie rock bands stick around for three albums. Beeef’s third full-length record, Somebody’s Favorite, not only embraces what it means to a great independent band, but celebrates it standing the test of time.

Written and recorded in many stages throughout the pandemic and beyond, Beeef’s latest record is their most polished and complex to date, giving the time and space for each hook and each lyric to resonate. Tracked between Lane Gibson Recording with Jeremy Mendicino (Pretty & Nice) and The Soul Shop with Elio DeLuca (Titus Andronicus, Katie Von Schleicher), mixed by Julian Fader (Frankie Cosmos, Palehound) and Mike Moschetto (Aviator, sports.), and mastered by Alan Douches (Sufjan Stevens, Animal Collective), in many ways the album is a patchwork of the stories, relationships, and memories made on the way while still culminating in a cohesive and inspired 10-song project.

The first three singles from the album—”Nice Clean Shirt,” “Observational Eros,” and “Bedhead Boy”—were featured by the likes of PitchforkSpotify Fresh Finds, and Compact Cassette. Now, upon the release of the full album, the band is able to provide a clear view into the past decade of recording and touring, the stages shared/folks met along the way, and what it truly means to be beloved to a core group. After all, as the record itself states: you don’t have to be the best to be somebody’s favorite.
