Bootleg is the highly-anticipated follow up to The Garden’s 2022 album HORSESHIT ON ROUTE 66, which includes the tracks “Freight Yard” and “Chainsaw the Door,” and the 2024 EP Six Desperate Ballads, which includes the track “Ballet.” The Garden wrapped a run of sold out headline shows across the West Coast this spring, including a massive show at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, which was captured by The Cobra Snake for Alternative Press.
The Garden was formed in 2011 by twin brothers Wyatt Shears and Fletcher Shears who developed their signature style originally through the bones of a bass guitar and drums. A sound defined by slick, infectious bass lines paired with hostile, calculated drums and eerie electronic accents; the two-piece outfit coincidentally cut their own lane of noise beyond traditional genres, in which they stylized as “Vada Vada”. The band has continued to stake an admirable level of originality throughout their songwriting, performance, and sense of style. The minimalistic production of the twin-engine is known to feel powerful, audacious, and raw.
The band’s rich interest in the paranormal has locked in a visual language that drifts between uncanny, haunted, and arthouse, while their creative ethos stays original, sarcastic, and freeform. The Garden is known for their strikingly-dynamic, high-energy live shows where the band displays belligerent chaos on stage balanced with technical precision and emotive grooves. The band has cultivated their own scene of dedicated and eclectic audiences around the globe, performing alongside underground and legacy bands throughout.
Outside of The Garden, both brothers independently carry the torch within their solo music projects as well. Fletcher creates electronic material under the name Puzzle. While Wyatt’s solo endeavor, Enjoy leans more into rock n’ roll and indie punk.
