Caroline Carter - Fetch! [EP]
After a nine-month silence that only sharpened their voice, Nashville-based indie rock artist Caroline Carter returns with Fetch!, a chilling sophomore EP arriving Friday via Too Fine Records. Blending moody post-grunge textures with intimate singer-songwriter clarity, Fetch! captures the volatile space between fear and action – asking not just what scares us, but why we choose to chase those fears or run from them.
Built as both a sonic and emotional release, Fetch! is Carter’s most dynamic work to date. The project leans into a punchy, glitch-infused sound first introduced on lead single “Watchdog,” signaling a clear departure from the indie pop softness of their debut EP I Did What I Promised. Across Fetch!, Carter fuses raw distortion and bubble-grunge energy with their signature lyrical precision, landing somewhere between Phoebe Bridgers, Madison Cunningham, and Soccer Mommy.
At its core, Fetch! is about surrender – not as defeat, but as reckoning. It lives in the moment when everything is laid bare, when defenses drop and truths emerge. “It’s the feeling of throwing your hands up,” Carter explains through the project’s narrative lens. “Not to give up, but to acknowledge your weaknesses and move forward anyway.” The EP frames fear as something both instinctual and transformative – something we are conditioned to avoid, yet often compelled to pursue.
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Carter’s storytelling is deeply rooted in the complexity of growing up and coming into identity, particularly within the queer Southern experience. Now based in Nashville, they bring a perspective that is both deeply personal and broadly resonant. Before stepping into the indie rock space, Carter honed their performance chops in musical theatre, beginning in fifth grade and continuing through a performing arts high school. It was there they discovered that their passion wasn’t for Broadway, but for songwriting and storytelling – a realization that ultimately led them to Nashville. That foundation remains evident in their work today: every line intentional, every moment emotionally charged.
As Carter evolves sonically, one constant remains: their commitment to honesty. Their lyrics act as a compass, always pointing toward truth, no matter how uncomfortable or unpolished it may be. With Fetch!, that honesty is amplified – messier, louder, and more fearless than ever before.
To celebrate the release, Caroline Carter will host an EP release show at The Blue Room in Nashville on May 29. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
