Mint Records' latest signee's, Hot Panda, are set to release their debut full length album Volcano... Bloody Volcano on February10th. Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Hot Panda formed during the particularly chilly winter of 2006 and have already become an experienced touring act, playing all over the US and Canada with over a hundred shows in a very short time, including sets at CMJ and PopMontreal. Hot Panda has already shared the stage with such acts as The Clipse, Women and The Bicycles.

Volcano... Bloody Volcano is a collection of collaborative songs chock-full of the band's spastic energy. It's reminiscent of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, State Bird, older Flaming Lips (think "Tangerine"), with flashes of An Albatross. Comparisons have also been drawn to luminaries such as Daniel Johnson and The Talking Heads. While it is always nice to be compared to such great acts, Hot Panda have certainly found their own sound: a unique blend of BritPop, Glam & Lo-fi Indie. Keep an eye out for tour dates in 2009, including performances at SXSW in March.
