Underlined Passages
Underlined Passages is an indie-pop duo consisting of percussionist Jamaal Turner, and guitarist/vocalist Michael Nestor. The band crafts their unique brand of DIY indie rock with music that is guitar driven, emotionally intense and ephemeral. Akin to big rockers Nada Surf and Built To Spill, this 2 piece unit continues to deliver tight, delicious indie-pop songs that resonate. Underlined Passages is set to release their latest amalgamation of songs on the new record Tandi My Dicafi, out September 15th 2017 on Mint 400 Records.
Underlined Passages’ sound and well executed musical creations captured attention last year with the Fantastic Quest, becoming one of the top picks of 2016 by Culture Catch and garnering a number of positive reviews.
Crafted with beautiful harmonies and attention to musical detail, one of the band’s most exuberayting tracks from TFQ-"Everyone Was ere"-hit over 30K plays on Soundcloud alone. Channeling their heart-felt creative sense into visual realm, the band is known for witty-yet-humble artistic music videos that have reached over 25K views on YouTube. Continuously building a solid reputation and reaching thousands around the globe, they charted in the top 20 on numerous established radio stations, including WRSU, WRPI and hometown station WTMD. The band has participated in a number of in studio interview/performances based on this airplay.
Live, Underlined Passages has enthralled crowds in the northeast megalopolis at various festivals, showcases and premiere venues including New York City's Pianos and Baltimore's Ottobar. They have shared the stage with indie darlings Matt Pond PA, Donkeys, and Sink Tapes among others.
Creating sonically pleasing music, Underlined Passages’ fusion of borderline-wistful vocals, twangy guitars and tight drums produces an emotionally filled nostalgic vibe. Igniting a shared emotional connection, the band takes their listeners along their journey from song to song.
