"Nashville based singer-songwriter Trey Lockerbie is one of the most compelling young unsigned pop artists." - About.com

Trey Lockerbie is an up-and-coming young singer/songwriter whose intimate, confessional compositions have been compared to Coldplay and John Mayer. Though only 23 he’s already racked up quite the résumé: he’s placed two songs on a Josh Kelley (Universal Nashville) record and toured as his guitar player as well as serving similar duties for Lenka (Epic Records) and Josh Hoge (Blackledge Music). In addition, his song “Sullivan Street” received an Honorable Mention in a lyric contest for American Songwriter magazine. It was during his sophomore year at Indiana University that he realized he might have a future in the music business--when he was asked to guest-lecture the music biz class! Shortly thereafter Josh Kelley called Trey at his college dorm after a mutual friend had recommended Trey for a tour; Trey soon dropped out to move to Nashville and went on tour with Kelley for over a year. Through that touring he found other gigs with bands that are now Platinum-selling Grammy-winners. Last year he released his solo debut, the acclaimed Hummingbird EP, of which THISisMODERN raved, “Trey’s debut solo effort is truly a masterpiece,” while The Tennessean proclaimed, “He should have no trouble making his mark.”

Trey Lockerbie was born in the indie-rock hotbed of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, but grew up in Bloomington, Indiana. Now Trey has self-released his second EP, Light Therapy. The four-song EP not only showcases his talents on acoustic guitar, piano and mandolin but also was produced by Trey. “The songs for Light Therapy were written as poems while I was traveling and touring with other artists,” he reveals. “I later wrote the music to them and found a new approach to writing, by staying true to the format I had already created. That meant that the songs turned out less formulaic and in turn showed a clearer side of my personality. I ended up producing it myself with a lot of help from some friends in both Nashville and Los Angeles, squeezing in recording sessions whenever the timing worked out. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.” The quartet of tunes demonstrates Trey’s continued growth as a songwriter and will undoubtedly please fans of his earlier work while also attracting many new supporters.
