“I always believed that I have something important to say and I said it.” – Lou Reed

What can be said about the late great Lou Reed that hasn’t been said before? He is most definitely a major influence on modern music and a gigantic influence on the Mint 400 Records roster. Compiled in this short EP are his hits from his amazing solo record “Transformer” played by Tommy Preisler of Canada’s The Shelters, Neil Sabatino of NJ’s Fairmont, and NJ indie outfit The Maravines. In addition Shane Vidaurri shares his acoustic version of the Velvet Underground classic “I’m Set Free”. NJ’s Sink Tapes pays homage with an original track titled “Lou Is Cooler Than You”, an album track from one of their earlier releases that shows just what a major influence Reed’s music has been on us all. It just didn’t feel right to let this great man pass on without paying our respects.

“If it wasn’t for artists like Lou Reed with their unique voice, I doubt that myself and most of the artists on the Mint 400 Records roster would have the courage to try and sing in a band.” - Neil SabatinoMint 400 Records Owner & Vocals for Fairmont
