Toy Cars arrive with their third EP Sleeping Patterns, the follow-up to 2015’s attention-grabbing Letters. Continuing New Jersey’s tradition of heart-on-sleeve Springsteen-ian rock anthems, Toy Cars channel a middle ground between the New Brunswick basement dwelling punk rock they were born out of and emotionally exposed folk music, all framed within a real songwriting prowess. “Albatross” builds slowly until it explodes in an ecstatic release that would make Titus Andronicus proud while “Dull” recalls early Bright Eyes when Connor Oberst was at his most vulnerable. “Bjork” crosses the melodic drive of Against Me! with the warped, sharp guitars of modern post-punk revivalists like Women and Preoccupations.

With Sleeping Patterns, Toy Cars achieve a beautiful sadness. This is music that makes you feel alive because the only way to feel sadness in such depths is to have known a joy in equal measure. We hope you enjoy it!
