Tony Saxon
After many rough starts and uphill battles....Tony Saxon "the musician's musician" is back on the good foot with his newest endeavor, blending his love for classic soul, r&b, early rockabilly, garage & surf rock into an honest and wild, new, high energy record encompassing both original songs and some tributes to his heroes. Old Souls & Long Term Goals available 1/28 on Mint 400 Records is an honest selection of recordings made in professional modern studios without frills, bells, whistles, or modern recording crutches. Saxon is a 2nd generation entertainer, who's father was a successful nightclub and lounge entertainer by the same name during the 60s and 70s in most notably Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Tony's almost vaudevillian stage show is a raucous anti-thesis and polar opposite of the pretentious, boring, cookie cutter bands flooding the music scene right now. The show blends a high energy, interactive mix of comedy and what NJ.com in a recent article called "60s, four-on-the-floor rock 'n' roll that invokes an almost tribal response in rock fans of all ages and tastes"
Old Souls and Long Term Goals is a two part album. Tony Saxon performs all the guitar and vocal tracks, and JP Dalpan of NJ death metal outfit Chained to the Dead performs all the bass tracks. The drums on the first half of the recorded are performed by current drummer Kyle Cassel...and the drums on the second half of the record were performed by Matt Olsson of Frank Iero & the Patience. There is only one guitar track recorded on each song and all the instruments were recorded live. Tony, a longtime veteran and man behind the curtain in the NJ music scene is stoked and truly looking forward for this release through Mint 400 Records. Tony describes his own music like so: " garage psych, surf, soul & roll that is not boring, not corny, and can look you in the eye"
