The Furies
The Furies debut EP Omens offers a delicate, yet relentless inquiry into the nature of the human heart, and the journey to oneself. An omen, a hint that leads us to a yet undefined future, is at the center of this inquiry. Lee Moretti, having come off the road some time ago as Third Eye Blind's touring multi-instrumentalist, dove into The Furies with fiercely fluent musical cohorts to create a rock and pop sound as lush and melodic as it is hook-driven. With influences ranging from Jeff Buckley, Aimee Mann, and Florence and the Machine to The Dead Weather, The Sundays, and Alabama Shakes, The Furies bring a wide berth of influences to a single point, creating a new sound in "Omens" that is strikingly familiar, and yet all their own.
Formed in 2011, the Furies have gone through a few lineup and location changes – always led by the insightful lyricist and lead singer Lee Moretti. With the re-release of Omens on Mint 400 Records, the band presents an introduction to their sound as well as a rebirth, soon to be followed by their sophomore release. After winning a New England Music Award in 2018 and supporting great acts including but not limited to The Ataris, Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter, The Indigo Girls and many others, the band returns to touring this summer, intending to show what prophecy their initial Omens appear to portend. From start to finish the album is all at once soaring, full, intimate and catchy, showing as much diversity as there is fluidity.
"The Furies EP, Omens, is a highly engrossing collection of music, sizzling and beautifully crafted. It’s a distinctive spin on rock ‘n’ roll — emotionally evocative and melodic, but still retaining the genre’s inherent punch and verve." - Victor D. Infante | The Telegram
