"The Clydes' new album turns up the synth while retaining elements of The Clydes’ sound that has made them a mainstay on the New Brunswick music scene." — WRAT 95.9

"It retains The Clydes' knack for pop while throwing in some new sounds to keep things fresh." — CoolDad Music

"The songwriting also is better this time out, perhaps because of a variety of keyboards to bounce off Brian’s ringing guitars, but also because the lyrics reflect on inner chaos as it relates to that of the world amidst the strange times in which we are living." — Makin Waves

The Clydes, a Jersey alt-rock band led by a pair of brothers, return with their third album on Mint 400 RecordsOld-Time Monarchy. Musically, it’s the most mature record yet, a mixture of soaring vocals, catchy guitar riffs, more keyboards than usual, and dynamic compositions. Lyrically, it’s a record that reflects on love and anxiety in a world that’s more divided than it’s been in years.

The first single, the percolating, synth-laced love song ‘Jalisa,’ debuted on prominent Jersey station WRAT 95.5 FM. There are also tunes about impending doom at a royal wedding (the title track), a shotgun marriage (‘27/31’), getting out of different sticky situation (‘Left My Bullets In Another Gun’), and the attraction and disappointment of nostalgia (‘Tobacco Point.’)

Once again, the record was produced by Mint 400 owner Neil Sabatino, the leader of Jersey indie-rock favorites Fairmont and mastered by Nick Zampiello of New Alliance East and Mint 400 band This Bliss. This time, joining brothers Brent Johnson (vocals) and Brian Johnson (guitar) and Andrew Cougar Orlando (bass) is new dummer Pete Gambino.
