Mint 400's newest release, The Ashes Sing! is the product of Shane Vidaurri, Alec and Thomas Hanslowe. Their efforts beautifully combine Shane's subtle songwriting with the Hanslowe brothers lush orchestrations. It is obvious The Ashes delight in bringing together tubas and violins, banjos and electric guitars, organs and jawharps, all while dabbling in the sounds of the 60's, Nashville and New Orleans. Each song on The Ashes Sing! started on a whim in Shane's basement, where the foundation was laid, then it was brought over to the Hanslowe's, who fixed, tweaked and finished each song. The album was further aided by The Ashes comrades Kevin, Alan and Tabitha (Shane's sister). The Ashes were also happy to include Vic Ruggiero into the fold, the organ player of The Slackers and Rancid.
