Steve Nelson

Steve Nelson, in the words of Brooklyn music blogger Dan Gill, “showcases an Americana that speaks as much of the inner city as of open highways, as much of existential crisis as wasted youth”.
The New Jersey-born crooner is known in the Bushwick-Brooklyn music scene for his songwriting, last year releasing 1903, an under-the-radar psych-folk album that he recorded with friends in his tiny New York apartment.
After approaching friend and producer, Kahan James, the two began work on Steve’s next album which brought the music out of the psych-folk realm, into a world of lush string arrangements, casio beats, and blaring horns. And that’s how Steve’s next album Yes Master was born.
Although this new album represents a different approach and sound for Steve Nelson, his honest and sincere personality still shines through in his lyric-heavy compositions, pulling upon such diverse inspirations as Bob Dylan, Janelle Monae, Caetano Veloso, and Arctic Monkeys.
Yes Master explores a musical realm of infinite possibilities. The album plows through genres as if the boundaries were never even there. Kahan James shows off his production prowess, playing a myriad of instruments and endowing the album with lush string and horn arrangements; played out by The Superpower Horns (Beyoncé and Kanye collaborators) and viola/violin player Brian Lindgren.
Yes Master will be released on CD, iTunes, and Spotify on August 14th.
