Steph Barrak is an independent singer/songwriter based out of Boston, MA. Her songs are melodically and lyrically driven, often incorporating elements of folk, country, and pop. Recently, Steph teamed up with local record producer, Mike Davidson, and spent the last two years recording her debut album, Words To Break Your Heart.

Notable appearances on the album include Duke Levine (Peter Wolf), Jamie Edwards (Aimee Mann), and Steve Scully (Melissa Ferrick). Recently, the music video from her single, “Painted Face,” was featured on Boston music blog, Allston Pudding. The album is available through all major digital distributors and Steph’s website. Steph is also donating 10% of album and merch proceeds to the Music & Youth Initiative.

Steph’s urge to write began at a young age and she often cites Freddie Mercury of Queen as her biggest inspiration. She began performing live at college open mics in 2006 and very quickly started headlining shows of her own. Since then, Steph has played over 50 shows at several notable venues, including The Knitting Factory in NYC, and has shared the stage with acts like Jenny Owen Youngs. Steph’s voice has often been compared to that of Suzanne Vega’s and her sound can be described as indie rock meets folk-‐pop.
