Smock have returned to Earth from a galaxy faraway with their debut EP Interstellar Nobody. The band has garnered quite a reputation in New Jersey for their already legendary live performances at Montclair’s famous punk haven, the Meatlocker. This EP is heavy, channeling greats like Queens of the Stone Age if they came from another dimension instead of the desert. Singer/guitarist Jesse Benicaso sounds like Milk Music’s Alex Coxen or Mudhoney’s Mark Arm if they were singing to you from the twilight zone instead of some club. “Weird One” is full throttle Slaughterhouse-era Ty Segall. “High Life” kicks off with a nasty bass lick reminiscent of Damaged-era Black Flag before erupting in to the stratosphere and “Bleach” channels Thee Oh Sees in its zonked-out krautrock forward momentum march.

The guitars on this EP absolutely crush; combining the heaviness of early Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Black Sabbath with a healthy dose of psychedelia. Interstellar Nobody is a must-listen for anyone with a predilection for mystic, doomy, desert/stoner rock. Smock invite you to join them on their journey through the cosmos. Take them up on their offer. You won’t regret it.
