In true indie rock fashion, New Brunswick, NJ’s Sink Tapes release music at an extremely fast clip. They have put out four full lengths and a handful of EPs and singles since coming in 2010. Coming off last year’s superb Touchdown Buffalo, Sink Tapes return with their best album yet, Creases. The band authentically captures the romanticism of ‘80s college rock, recalling The Cure at their peppiest if they had Peter Buck (R.E.M.) on guitar and Jim Reid (Jesus and Mary Chain) on vocals. The driving bass of Thomas Dalzell and the propulsive drumming of Gabriel Chiarello, who also happens to be the lead vocalist, propels the twin jangle of guitarists Ricky Kucyznski and Alex Kilmanski. Chiarello has never sounded better on Creases and, if you have ears, tracks like first single “Blow Me a Kiss” will bring the hopelessly romantic and the romantically hopeless twenty-something out of you.
