Right from the start, the first few chords of Shred Flintstone’s debut EP are sure to get you hooked. The band features guitarist/singer Dan Barecchia (Jean Pool), bassist Bridget Bakie, and drummer Joey Giambra, having gotten together just last year. Recorded by NJ wunderkind Max Rauch, the EP has a distinct summery vibe, hitting that sweet spot where punk, garage, and surf all intersect in the pursuit of a great rock band.

Opening track “Happy Song” embraces positivity in a cross between Ty Segall, Wavves, and Billy Childish whereas “Buggin” wouldn’t sound of out-of-place on Nirvana’s beloved Incesticide compilation. “To-Do List” has the hyper intensity and heady melodicism of Blood Visions by Jay Reatard. “Fruity Pebbles” hints at a more expansive sound for the band with a groove-laden breakdown that recalls the dark, spazzed-out psychedelic funk of the Red Hot Chili Peppers circa their underrated One Hot Minute album with Dave Navarro. Give Shred Flintstone a listen and I guarantee you’ll be blasting this EP from your car windows all summer long.
