Mixing It Up With Pirate!

Hey all!

Well it’s about that time. Fall has (unofficially) arrived. Everyone has their High School Musical school gear, people are in the office working again, and our tan-lines are starting to fade – we can’t believe summer is over! Sure we look forward to the bonfires and hot chocolate that come with this next season, but we’ll miss the pool parties, cookouts, and walking around in mumus. In lieu of our growing nostalgia for a season that isn’t even over yet, Meredith and I decided to put together a mixtape of some of our favorite summer songs for you to help with the bitter that comes with the sweet in the changing weather (SoCal this does not apply to you). This mix is extra special for us since we spent a lot of time working with these bands, listening to them on our iPods and hanging in person. We went to BBQ’s, introduced them to Brass Monkeys, followed them around the US, and even found a few of these folks in Denmark!

Some of these bands, like Cheyenne, Oh No Ono, Conquistador, Heidi Mortenson and Ample Branches are doing everything completely out of pocket, so if you check out their songs and dig’em, your support for these artists could break them! Tell your label friends or post about em and get the word out.

If you don’t have copies of some of these albums and like what you hear please let us know and we’ll get them to you. It’s possible they are still sitting in a pile near you. We just wanted to nudge you in the right direction should you have missed any of these artists while vacationing in the Bermuda Triangle or wherever you may have been. Some you may or may not know, but we encourage you to stick it out until the end. There are some surprises in there (including a pair of special Pirate guests at the end!).
